I’ve had this felted tote bag on my wish list for a few years now and finally decided it was time to give it a try when I saw this yarn. I am doing a test of sorts to see if this would be a great first time project for knitters knew to Fair Isle/Norwegian knitting, for my other blog. I went out looking for Noro Kureyon for the pattern color and just couldn’t find a nice background color to match, so I went ahead and gave these a try instead. It is 100% merino wool, extremely soft, and it looks unspun. In some areas it goes from thick to thin and in many ways I think it is a more luxurious variation of the Kureyon. The pattern becomes a little muddled because the variegated colors from both skeins tended to match from time to time when they crossed paths but I just went with it to see what would happen because I was in some serious need of something to lift my spirits and it was one of the few colors in the store that were in the pink/feminine range that I was hoping to find. If you get the chance to see a photo of the model in Sally Mellville’s book, it is absolutely to die for beautiful. Hopefully I can find something closer to use the next time because I would love to make it exactly as she has it in her book with bright, bold variegated Kureyon for the pattern color, and a soft, muted solid color shade for the background. Its truly spectacular and I’ve never seen anything else quite like it.
